Balbriggan's boilers are mostly from the 2000s: 57% of homes in the Balbriggan Rural division, where 6,120 of the town's 9,085 households live, were built from 2001 to 2010 (Census 2022). Those boilers are now 15 to 25 years old. General Gas, which lists Balbriggan, publishes combi packages from €2,150 fitted.
Dublin-wide, a like-for-like gas boiler replacement is €2,200–€3,300 fully installed with VAT and a new combi €2,500–€4,500 (GB Gas Services, re-read 29 October 2026). No grant pays for a new gas boiler.
A boom-years town with a boiler wave due
Balbriggan more than doubled in the 2000s, and the Census shows it. Balbriggan Rural, the estates around the old town, has 6,120 households, 57% built from 2001 to 2010 and 17% since 2011, and 77% heat with gas. Balbriggan Urban is the old town: 32% built from 1961 to 1980, 10% before 1946, and 27% of homes on oil.
A 2005 boiler that has never been replaced is close to the end of the 15 to 20 years Dublin Gas Boilers says a well-maintained boiler lasts. That's the bulk of Balbriggan's replacements over the next few years.
