Malahide has the biggest houses of any area on this site: 50% of households have four or more bedrooms, and 19% heat with oil, twice the share in most of Dublin (Census 2022). Big houses with two or more bathrooms usually want a system boiler and a cylinder. General Gas, which lists Malahide, publishes system boiler packages fully fitted.
Dublin-wide, a like-for-like gas boiler replacement is €2,200–€3,300 fully installed with VAT and a new combi €2,500–€4,500 (GB Gas Services, re-read 29 October 2026). No grant pays for a new gas boiler.
Big houses, and oil in Malahide West
Malahide is two Census divisions. Malahide West is the older half, 43% built from 1961 to 1980: 56% of its households have four or more bedrooms and 26% heat with oil. Malahide East is newer and mixed, 28% built from 2001 to 2010 and 28% flats, but still 46% four-bed or bigger.
77% of Malahide households own their home, the highest share of the areas on this site. A boiler here is usually a homeowner's decision about a big house: how many bathrooms, whether to keep the cylinder, and whether to stay on oil.
